A US based PR company went over and beyond in their most recent recruitment efforts to attract young staff members with pop culture and social media skills.
Michel Litzky founder of the Litzy PR firm told online magazine Mashable:
“With two open positions and tons of recent grads entering the job market, Litzky PR wanted to connect with potential candidates in a unique, engaging format that allowed our agency to stand out from the crowd,”
So, no surprise given her and the business’ background that she ditched the traditional recruitment routes and went the whole way with a Carly Rae Jepson “Call Me Maybe” dubbed and choreographed video.
“By using the power of social media and tapping into a pop culture phenom, we are connecting with candidates where and how they live,” Litzky said. “The video immediately communicates our playful office culture and showcases the pride each employee takes in being a ‘Litzky Lady.’”
Take a look at the video below and let us know what you think:
Now, we really love this video. It not only helped to attract thousands more applicants for the roles they were advertising for but, given the firm is in PR it was a huge success on their part.
Although we haven’t gone as far as this to advertise job vacancies, we have gone some way and recommend others do so too, in the efforts to ditch traditional recruitment advertising methods and focus on new media and the Internet.
Why? Because that’s where people are spending their time, online.
Take job boards for example.
Research has shown that 91% of job seekers consider the job boards their single most useful resource when looking for work.
Which means that “traditional” recruitment methods including:
- Newspaper adverts
- Trade magazine entries
- Recruitment ‘agency’ routes
..just aren’t being used. So why continue to use them?
Cost is another contributing factor when it comes to recruitment advertising.
When we look at this video for example, we can only guess at the production cost. Perhaps a couple of hundred pound for a good quality camera and the cost of the time/choreography.
Again, look at the cost of recruitment advertising using social media, bar your time, it’s absolutely free.
