    Date: 17 March, 2015 | Author: | Category: General

Caroline WJBerwick Devoil Healthcare Ltd (BDHL) was founded in 1995 by a former AXA PPP sales manager and was acquired in 2002 by its current joint owners/directors Caroline Weiss-Jones (right) and Guy Jones.

BDHL is a traditional “insurance broker” specialising in Health and Protection insurances, with a comprehensive range of carefully selected policies and insurance plans for both private and corporate clients.

Private clients receive the opportunity to purchase private medical insurance that fits their needs, budget and lifestyle from a genuinely independent specialist broker, whilst corporate clients enjoy the bespoke service that BDHL is able to offer.

“As an Independent specialist broker with the experience of both UK and International markets our clients receive whole of market annual reviews as well as day-to-day support with the management of their schemes including premium negotiation and assistance with claims. Our knowledge covers a comprehensive range of health related employee benefits that includes: Private Medical Insurance, Income Protection, Critical Illness & Life Insurance; as well as Dental & Cash Plans.

“BD Global Medical focuses solely on worldwide Health Insurance, Group Income Protection and Critical Illness as well as Group Life. Our expertise is not limited to private and company clients, but extends to all fields including Aviation, Marine, Oil & Gas. We ensure that carefully selected policies and insurance schemes provide precise protection to suit circumstances, lifestyle and location.

“BD Global Medical works with leading insurance providers from around the World. This allows us to provide the best available and the most comprehensive range of products and services.”

bdhl-logoCurrently employing eight staff, BDHL has a global reach from its delightfully rural location on the Kent and Sussex border and has recently acquired an office in Devonshire Square, London.

Caroline Weiss-Jones bonded with the Hunt4Staff Project Management team through a mutual love of cats and came to insurance from an unrelated industry in events management & hospitality. “I ran my own business for a number of years (more than I am prepared to divulge) working in London & South East for HNW and Corporates.”Roy 1

    She agrees that it is the striving to always achieve high standards of customer satisfaction that keeps customers coming back and is a major tool in growing any business;

“We believe in delivering the highest level of customer service at all times to our clients. We always go the extra mile. We provide full market reviews annually to ensure that premiums remain competitive, and that policies remain up to date in their benefit structure to meet our clients’ needs.”

What is it about your business that makes you the most proud?

“That we are so focused on our customer service, it really does matter! Our reputation is paramount. We are exceptionally proud of our client retention and the long standing business relationships that we have with our clients who can draw on the combined experience and knowledge of our staff.

“I find it really rewarding working in partnership with Guy, my husband, and utilising the combined skills that we have in driving our business forward.

On to recruitment; how often, on average, do you have to recruit?

“As required, but, over the past two years, probably twice a year.”

Tell me about your recruitment history and your previous methods?

“We have advertised directly in the press, mostly local publications and have, on a number of occasions, appointed the more traditional agencies, some of whom specialise in recruitment in the health insurance and employee benefits industries.”

BDHL has run four successful campaigns with our Project Management team since late 2013. What were the benefits that prompted you to choose Hunt4Staff?

“Cost; and the simple effective recruitment platform (ATS).”

Can you talk me through your typical project?

“Our projects do vary slightly dependant on which role we are recruiting, but we tend to follow a similar process:-

“Recently we recruited an ‘entry level’ office administrator and also an experienced BDM, both requiring very different skills and experience.

“Once we have agreed the ‘level/experience’ of candidate required within the company we then prepare a full job specification and salary bracket and send across to H4S. This will often be accompanied by documentation to support the sort of person/skills we are looking for, particularly as they need to work well within a dedicated team. This documentation could be a CV of a preferred candidate which may show certain experience, skills or methods of work that would interest us.

“I try to identify the skills that matter to us as well as the obvious things, such as geography, our offices are quite rural and an applicant who does not have a car or cannot drive would find the location a challenge!

“Amy or Ian at H4S make a preliminary sift of candidates and keep in regular liaison particularly if they think a specific candidate is a close match to our spec. I can also lean on them for various admin tasks such as making initial screening phone calls to my shortlisted candidates and even arranging my interview appointments.”

What is it about H4S that has impressed you against your previous recruiters?

“Apart from the cost?! Your communication strategy; the traffic light system as you process the CVs;  I like the fact I can access my account at any time of the day or night and make comments on the CVs, ask questions to your Project Managers and get your feedback.

“It has been really helpful having you calling candidates for me – to check out their telephone manner, confirm all the interviews….FEEDBACK….COMMUNICATION – it’s always consistent.

“Your staff has made a point of getting to know me/us and our business, what makes us ‘tick’, and find out what is important to us. I am sure that this relationship and understanding has helped H4S pinpoint the best candidates from what has been an impressive pool of applicants from each of our recruitment campaigns, which in turn has saved me a lot of time when it comes to shortlisting.”

To conclude, I’d like to thank you for your time, Caroline, but also to make the point that it works both ways. Hunt4Staff’s approach works best when in regular liaison with the client; someone who works with us to let us know their exact requirements and offers regular and informative feedback on candidates throughout each campaign. I know from speaking to our Project Managers that they love working with you for that reason.
